It has been a "long&sweet" week-end at Villa Manin in Passariano (Udine) with the "FVG Selections" of the Tiramisu World Cup 2019. Eight participants took the ticket for Sunday's semi-finals (morning) 3rd November in Treviso. In the final selection, Marco Daniel, an engineering student, who outperformed the competition with his original Tiramisu recipe.
They have flocked from all over Italy (... and not only!), But in the end there were only eight of them winning the title of semifinalists of the TWC 2019. Awarded by a popular jury, as well as experts and journalists of the sector, here are the names of those that arrive at the next stage.
For the original recipe (eggs, mascarpone, sugar, biscuits, coffee and cocoa): Eleonora Andronico from Rome, Marco Daniel from Pordenone, Enrico Paludetto from Feltre (Belluno) and Fabia Zamolo from Tolmezzo (Udine).
For the creative recipe (with the possibility of replacing the biscuit and adding up to three ingredients): Vanessa Orso from Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza) with the recipe with hazelnut cream, ricotta and Novara biscuits; Roberta Minisini from San Daniele del Friuli (Udine) with Tonka bean flavored coffee, pistachio cream and amaretti; Silvia Zanini from Pieve di Soligo (Treviso) who added orange peels to the basic ingredients; Chiara Ongaro di Fiumicello (Udine) with chopped almonds, macaroons and raspberries.
During these two days, the public was also able to get to know the stories of the most famous spoon dessert in the world, with guests who brought their testimonies: Flavia Cosolo di Pieris, daughter of Mario, inventor of “Tirime Su ”(Also known as“ Vetturino Cup ”) in 1935 and Mario del Fabbro, son of Norma Pielli who invented the Tiramisu of the Tolmezzo tradition in the Fifties. Spectators and enthusiasts were also able to watch the show cooking by Francesca Piovesana, winner of the Tiramisù World Cup 2018, with her creative Tiramisu (cinnamon & ginger).

Thanks to all the competitors and judges, our guests and the public, but above all to PromoTurismo FVG, the director Lucio Gomiero and his staff for having believed right away in this synergy, creating a job without equal ».
«The Tiramisù World Cup was an occasion that saw the recipes of Tolmezzo and Pieris together in the jury as a sign of the beginning of a possible path that aims at the enhancement of one of the typical products of our territory, thanks also to the joint work of the two regional Chambers of Commerce - declared Lucio Gomiero, director of PromoTurismo FVG -. In Friuli Venezia Giulia we offer the possibility of tasting the sweet in the two versions, with two strong different traditions, but at the same time united to achieve a single goal, that of also identifying the tiramisu among the flag products that promote and make known our region in Italy and abroad. We are proud that this competition, in addition to involving various fellow citizens, has been won by a young student from Pordenone who will represent us in the next selections, with the semi-finals in Treviso in November ».
In the final challenge of the "FVG Selections", the eight semi-finalists demonstrated once more their abilities, judged by a jury of absolute quality: in addition to the aforementioned Flavia Cosolo and Mario del Fabbro, Roberto Lestani presided over them, former World Pastry Champion, president of the International Federation of Pastry Gelateria Cioccolateria: «It is time to make system with the treasures of our kitchen. "Made in Italy" is a successful brand known throughout the world and Tiramisu is an exceptional vehicle for promoting us internationally ".
